Four NDC deputies of VR leave Parliament

Ho, July 13, GNA – About four national
The members of the Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Volta region have
not chosen nomination forms to challenge the parliamentary primaries of the Party to
to be re-elected deputy.

They are Mr. Richard Quashiegah, MP for Keta,
Mr. Clement Kofi Humado, Member of Parliament for Anlo, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, Member of Parliament for Ketu South
and Ms. Bernice Adiku Heloo, Member of Parliament for Hohoe.

Mr. James Gunu, Regional Secretary Volta
the NDC that confirmed this information to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said that a total of 15
women out of 74 chose nomination forms after the closing of the appointment on
Friday, July 12, to contest various parliamentary seats in the region.

He stated that Mr. Charles Agbeve, Member of Parliament for
Agortime-Ziope did not object because he was the only one to have chosen
application form to participate after the closing of the application.

Mr. Gunu said the functional executive
Committee (FEC) in consultation with the Secretary General ordered that,
the selection process for the parliamentary primaries in the riding of Hohoe
be allowed to continue with immediate effect.

He said that this followed a meeting between the
Officers of the FEC and Hohoe constituency on Friday, July 12, 2019.

The regional secretary stated that the date had
been extended until Tuesday 16 July 2019 for eligible party members who wished to
to challenge the parliamentary primaries in the Hohoe constituency to choose
appointment forms.

Mr Gunu indicated the original timetable for the
conduct of the parliamentary primaries remained unchanged and declared the
determination of party leaders in the region to create a level
a free, fair, credible and transparent playground for all aspirants
primary.
