Barbara Pravi won the French national selection and will now represent her country with “Voilà”.
National selection of France Eurovision France: You Decide (Eurovision France: You Decide) was broadcast live from Paris. Barbara Pravi was chosen from 12 participants after receiving the most votes from the audience and the jury.
About Barbara Pravi
Barbara Pravi is a French singer-songwriter with Serbian and Iranian roots. The 27-year-old is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest, or indeed the Eurovision Junior Song Contest to be more precise. She co-wrote the last two French entries for Junior Eurovision, Bim bam you, which was performed by Carla, and I imagine, performed by Valentina who won the competition in November 2020.
Barbara has also written for famous French singers like Yannick Noah and Chimène Badi. His song here is an introduction to herself, an artist long in the shadows, revealing her emotions and drawing inspiration from French song genre and singers like Jacques Brel and Piaf.

This year, France has opted for a new concept and a new name for its national selection. Their internal selection process allowed the following 12 artists to participate in the final:

The show consisted of 2 rounds. In the first round, the top 7 songs that received the most televotes qualified for the next stage. Then one of the songs that failed the first round, LMK, was selected by the jury to join them. The 8 finalists then took part in a second round of voting, where the votes of the public and the juries both represented 50%. Barbara Pravi was the winner of this final vote.
The show was hosted by Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini and the jury was made up of stars from Eurovision. Its chairman was the 2016 French artist Amir and also included fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, Eurovision winners Marie Myriam and Duncan Laurence as well as former participants such as Natasha St-Pier (2001).
As a member of the Big 5, France will automatically qualify for the Eurovision 2021 Grand Final and we can’t wait to see Barbara Pravi perform for France on Saturday May 22!
