Frank Lampard confirms that Chelsea star Ethan Ampadu will go on loan

Frank Lampard confirmed that Ethan Ampadu would leave Chelsea on loan this summer.

The 18-year-old played only five games with the team led by Maurizio Sarri last season and did not play at all in the Premier League.

Ampadu has not traveled with the Chelsea team for his pre-season tour in Japan as he is looking to complete his temporary stint from Stamford Bridge.

And Lampard admits that he is very anxious that Ampadu gets more play time on loan this season.

"Ethan is not here because we plan to put it on loan for the season," said Lampard on Tuesday when he arrived in Japan.

"I tried to get Ethan on loan at Derby last year. So I'm a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, I have to think about the big picture and the interests of Ethan and Chelsea.

"The idea that he could play a lot of games somewhere is good for him and we did not bring him here as long as it stays in the air."
