This is the opinion of Shaun Wright-Phillips, former winger of Chelsea and England.
Lampard was named new head coach at Stamford Bridge last month.
The legendary midfielder had only one season in management, leading Derby County to the championship playoff final in May.
He replaces Maurizio Sarri in Chelsea, who managed to rank among the top four in the Premier League and win the Europa League in his only campaign in charge.
Lampard will be without Eden Hazard, the top scorer of last season, gone to Real Madrid.
Christian Pulisic arrived from Borussia Dortmund and Mateo Kovacic returned his permanent loan.
But, apart from this duo, Lampard will no longer be able to sign a contract due to Chelsea's ban on the transfer of two windows.
Chelsea tends to overthrow its leaders if things do not go as planned on the ground.
But Wright-Phillips, who has scored 10 goals in 125 caps for Chelsea, hopes that fate is not what Lampard knows so soon.
"One hundred percent [Lampard can handle it]Wright-Phillips told ESPN FC.
"I think Frank as a man, what he has shown to Derby, he can rise to the challenge.
"My only concern was whether Chelsea would keep it long enough to allow him to show his authority and show people what he was doing.
"As you can see in Chelsea's story, they do not really keep managers that long.
"When they are sick and tired or maybe when the manager goes through a bad patch, they tend to fire them rather than give them more opportunities to push and really show what they are capable of."
Lampard's first game to Premier League Premier Chelsea will take place at Manchester United on August 8th.
