French could soon become an essential condition for employment – Akufo-Addo

As young people continue to seek employment, as Ghana’s export potential increases in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement space, President Nana Akufo-Addo predicts that the French language will become a key requirement for the job.

He therefore highlighted the need for Ghanaian job seekers to familiarize themselves with the French language as the country’s export and trade potential increases.

He made this claim during an exclusive interview with the French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie Avé for the last episode of season 1 of his Touch of France TV talk show.

Prez Akufo-Addo noted that the French language plays an important role in trade in the AfCFTA.

Following its launch on January 1, 2021, the AfCFTA pact aims to create the world’s largest free trade area, connecting 1.3 billion people in 55 countries with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) valued at 3,400 billions of dollars. It should also reduce trade tariffs and allow Africa to further integrate into global supply chains.

Ghana being “an English-speaking island in a French sea”, as he said during the meeting, the French ambassador believes that job seekers must prepare to meet the demand that will come with the potential of growing export of the country.

“I think, of course, like Ghana’s export potential, the ability to export its products – especially value-added products – is increasing and intensifying, [yes] Ghanaian companies will seek to fill sales departments, international sales departments, export departments, with people who are fluent in the language, ”she said.

“I can see this coming very easily. In any case, the stronger the links, the stronger the integration and you are talking about links of language, culture, blood. These are all important connections that allow people to live in the same space, ”she explained.

In the Touch of France TV show, President Akufo-Addo addressed many topics relating to work and business in France and the application of knowledge gained in Ghana and Africa. He is the first Ghanaian head of state to be interviewed by an ambassador.

Likewise, Anne Sophie Avé became the first Ambassador to wear a television program at the Maison du Jubilé.
