PARIS (Reuters) – French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said there was no reason for the European Commission to veto plans to merge Alstom (ALSO.PA) and Siemens "(SIEGn.DE) railway activities, confirming that the companies had made further concessions on the terms of the transaction.

"Alstom and Siemens have just made new concessions to the European Commission," said Le Maire on France Inter radio.

"There is no longer any justification for a rejection of the merger by the European Commission."

A source close to the case said Friday that the companies had added concessions to dispel the EU 's concerns over antitrust.
