FRANKFURT (Reuters) – The German health group Fresenius (FREG.DE) has abandoned the plan to sell its blood transfusion business, a spokesman said Sunday, confirming a report from the German press.
In May, sources told Reuters that Fresenius had approached potential contenders over the sale of the unit and hired Goldman Sachs (GS.N) For this reason.
The newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported on Sunday that the company had abandoned its plans.
"I confirm that the transfusion sector will continue to be operated by Fresenius," said a cabinet spokesman in an e-mail following his interrogation on the report.
After exploring the options for the blood transfusion sector, Fresenius concluded that it was best to retain the unit and develop it with investments.
