Technology giant Apple breaks ties with the Swedish capital, after being enraged against the Stockholm City Council which vetoed the project to build a store in a popular historical park.
The new center-right coalition in the city council decided to abandon the initial plans to build a glbad and giant stone store in Park Kungsträdgården. The building currently occupied by a restaurant was bought by Apple a few years ago for 129 million Swedish kronor ($ 13.9 million) after the project's approval by the previous city government.
The decision would have infuriated Apple because the company had already made several changes to the project to better match the historical location.

"There was definitely no kind words, these were nasty words that I do not want to repeat," Björn Ljung, a member of Stockholm's Urban Development Committee, explained Apple's response to Fastighetsvärlden.
The authorities in Stockholm offered to find a new location for a store, but were refused. "We were then told that Apple no longer wanted to have anything to do with the city of Stockholm," he said. said Ljung.
When Apple announced its plans in 2016, the public had negative reactions, critics claiming that the store would block one of the entrances to the park and market a venerated monument.
Disappointed by the loss of time and investment, Apple would try to resell the site to the city of Stockholm with a considerable premium. The company is seeking SEK 179 million for the property, a significant increase over the original price.
