Danquah Institute founder and Chief Exceutive Officer of McDan Shipping paid for the surgical treatment of a young boy who had a closed esophagus and could not eat anything or swallow anything.
Gabby Otchere Darko and Daniel McKorley rescued the sick boy from street preachers around the Sikelele traffic light near the Emmanuel Eye Clinic in Legon, Accra, who used it to collect weapons.
Mr. Otchere Darko told Dr. Okoe Boye, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Korle Bu University Hospital, "that apparently they had been there for weeks. I stopped and took the boy away and with the help of a philanthropic neighbor, the boy was sent to Korle Bu.
The boy had accidentally drank caustic soda and could not eat normally since his esophagus had been damaged.
The esophagus is the tube that leaves the mouth and goes down the throat up to the stomach. Ingested food or drink drops this tube into the stomach.
Because of the stenosis, the child was unable to swallow food and, therefore, a bypbad was created on the abdomen to feed the child.
However, the tube had been infected, putting the boy's life in danger, which prevented him from sitting down.
The boy had to undergo endoscopic dilation of the esophagus with the help of balloons at the price of $ 3,500.
This is a procedure used to open the esophagus that closes through a narrowing developed as a form of injury when the child drinks caustic soda.
Dr. Oko Boye revealed that Mr. Otchere Darko and Mr. McKorley donated $ 3,500 to cover the cost of the surgery that the boy needed so much.
He said that the boy is better after the operation.
