A leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the district of Awutu Senya West, Mr. Gabby Quaye blamed the government for wasting state resources in unnecessary parties to celebrate the acquisition of loans.

The government raised $ 3 billion from international financial institutions through a three-tranche Eurobond that drew more proposals than the country had requested.
At the close of a tour in London, the appetite for the sovereign loan of 2019 had grown, which had resulted in orders totaling $ 21 billion, or about seven times more than the amount needed.
The government delegation, led by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, however, agreed to only $ 3 billion, according to the budgeted amount approved in the 2019 budget and the government's economic policy.

He also lamented the fact that "a few years ago, a government showed infrastructure to celebrate loans, but Ghanaians were led to believe that it was wrong to borrow. Today, the government is holding a kenkey party to celebrate a loan. "
He concluded by calling on Ghanaians to change the government by mbadively voting against President Akuffo Addo in the 2020 general election.
