Composer Ramin Djawadi, who rose to fame for his indelible score on HBO’s hit HBO series “Game of Thrones”, will return for the upcoming “House of the Dragon” network prequel series.
A source confirmed the news to Insider after reports first appeared on Los Siete Reinos and writer Adam Whitehead’s blog The Wertzone. Both “Game of Thrones” blogging sites noted that Djawadi’s updated resume on his agency’s website included the pilot episode of “House of the Dragon” among his television scores.
Djawadi has won two Emmys and has been nominated seven times for his outstanding musical composition. His consecutive wins came in 2018 and 2019 for “Game of Thrones”.

Djawadi has also performed several nationwide “Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience” tours, during which he conducts a live orchestra and choir to perform the greatest hits from HBO’s dramatic fiction score.
Movie and TV fans are probably familiar with Djawadi’s work on HBO’s other hit drama, “Westworld.” He is also the songwriter for the film “Iron Man” (2006), as well as “Pacific Rim” (2013) and “A Wrinkle in Time” (2018). The 46-year-old musician made his debut in Hollywood music composition after working with Hans Zimmer.
The upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel series, “House of the Dragon,” is currently in production. The show is directed by Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik and will not feature any “Game of Thrones” characters, or the original series showrunners David Benioff or DB Weiss involved in the project.
