RETURN HOME TO LODGING THE HAWKS
After a loss in Sacramento on Thursday night, the Warriors return home to welcome the Atlanta Hawks on Friday to complete the back-end of a back-to-back. This will mark the first of two meetings between the clubs this season, as well as Atlanta’s first-ever visit to the Chase Center. In fact, the Hawks are the only NBA team yet to play a game in the Warriors’ new home. For the Dubs, this game will open a seven-game winning streak against Eastern Conference teams, all of which have a new look after Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

Juan Toscano-Anderson continues to make an impact on both sides of the ball, showcasing his talents both ways. The Oakland native scratched his 14th start to the season Thursday with 15 points, shooting an impeccable 6-for-6 on the field and a career 3-for-3 draw from beyond the arc. The forward also added six rebounds, four assists and two steals in 26 minutes of play. “I try to find value wherever I can,” Toscano-Anderson said after the game. “I know who I am as a player and I know what I bring to the table. I want to be consistent, I want my coaches and teammates to know what they’re going to get from me. In the last two games, Toscano-Anderson has averaged 13 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Don’t let the Atlanta Hawks’ record of .500 (22-22) fool you: After moving from former head coach Lloyd Piece to new head coach Nate McMillan, the Hawks went 8-2 in their last 10 games, including an eight-game winning streak immediately after the change. And those two losses were just nine points against the Los Angeles Clippers and two points against the Sacramento Kings. Third-year goalie Trae Young points out the team are their top scorer (25.8 points per game) with unlimited reach, averaging 2.5-3 points on a career-high 36.3 % beyond the arc. And Atlanta got more offensive firepower with the acquisition of veteran guard Lou Williams on Thursday. However, it is perhaps Atlanta’s short front that turns out to be the biggest challenge. Former Houston Rocket center Clint Cappela has found a home with the Hawks, averaging career highs in rebounds (14.2) and blocks (2.2) to go with 14.6 points per game . Meanwhile, power forward John Collins is a factor in every facet of the game with 18.1 points on 37.2% over-arc shots, 7.8 rebounds with 2.2 offensive rebounds. and 1.1 blocks. And these three elements are just the tip of an Atlanta iceberg that has multiple ways of reaching their opponents.
