GUSEV 7 Gusev is expected in Accra Thursday with his team before the official weigh-in Friday

Emmanuel 'Gameboy' Tagoe, former lightweight champion of the International Boxing Organization (IBO), says he is in top form and ready to face Russia's Vyacheslav Gusev at Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Ghanian was scheduled to fight Gusev on January 26th at the arena, but a broken right hand forced the organizers to postpone the match until February 23rd.

The young man from Bukom will compete for the lightweight world titles of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) International and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and is in good shape to defeat Gusev.

"I'm fine now and I'm ready to face Gusev. I do not predict a knockout but when he [the fight] start, you'll see for yourself, "Tagoe told Graphic Sports by phone.

The fight is the country's last for the boxer, nicknamed "Gameboy" in boxing circles, as he embarks on another quest for the world title in the United States under the famous brand Lou DiBella Entertainment.

International partner Michael Tetteh, who also works for BabyJet Promotions, the promoters of the upcoming match, also predicted Tagoe's win on Saturday.

"He has completely recovered. He is ready for a confrontation and he can not wait to fight. It's his last fight and he wants to make the fans very happy and make it a memorable event, "he said.

Russia's Gusev, 33, was beaten and defeated unnamed Thai Yotchanchai Yakaeo last September following a technical decision in Russia.

A native of Prokopyevsk, Russia, Gusev has 30 professional fights to his credit, with five losses, but has to face an experienced Ghanaian boxer for a chance to win a shot at the world title.

Reports in Russia suggest that he has stepped up his training program and is well prepared for the fight. He is expected in Accra Thursday with his team before the official weigh-in Friday.

Meanwhile, a high-level delegation including Daryl Peoples, President of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Danny Leigh of Australia, the president of WBO Global and Peter Kahn of the United States should also arrive tomorrow in the country to witness the fight. .
