Gareth Southgate Reveals Essential Difference Between NFL Training and Football Management

Gareth Southgate says he's trying to give his English players more freedom to make their own decisions – and that there's less interference from the coach in the football management compared to the NFL.

Southgate went to Atalanta to watch the Super Bowl, 12 months after attending the NFL performance before leading England to the World Cup.

The head of the Three Lions has already mentioned his fascination with sports and the different training methods used.

And while admitting that there are similarities, Southgate says that there is less interference in football than in the NFL.



Southgate says coaches intervene less in football

The former boss of Middlesbrough told the BBC: "We are conducting schemes of attack". At different places in the field, players know the pbades they should be making, trying to get into space as the smuggler raises his head.

"So, there are a lot of similarities, but less interference on the part of the coach."

When asked if he had deliberately tried to give his English players more authority in the field and the opportunity to make their own decisions, he added, "You are trying to paint images.
