Gary Lineker explains why there is no comparison between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Gary Lineker explained why for him, there is no comparison between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi and Ronaldo are generally considered the two best players on the planet, although fans are usually split in two.

Ronaldo had an amazing career during which he won five Gold Ball, five Champions League trophies, three Premier leagues and two La Ligas.

In contrast, Messi also won five Gold Ball, four Champions League trophies and nine La Ligas.

Apart from trophies and personal honors, Lineker has only one better player on the planet: Messi.

"It's just phenomenal," Lineker told talkSPORT. "He is 31 years old now and he is still going strong, playing the game in a way that is unfamiliar to us.

"I'm watching football a lot and people are throwing in all this debate Messi against Ronaldo, there's no comparison for me."

Lineker added: "Messi is at a different level than anyone else, it's as simple as that – people tell me what about Ronaldo's track record of goals and so on?

"But I tell them that you saw Messi pbad a soccer ball? Did you see dribbling towards the goal?"
