Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Energy, Nana Damoah
Some people alleged to be arsonists set fire to gas pipelines in the Tema enclave.
The Ministry of Energy's public relations officer, Nana Damoah, who shared it with Eyewitness News, said the police had opened an investigation into the incident to arrest the perpetrators.
"Last night, security officers conducting regular checks along the pipelines serving one of the Tema enclave plants found that people had packed car tires on pipelines carrying fuel." to the power station and set them on fire, so they were burning, "said Damoah.
"It's a very sad development for all of us. The situation is becoming more and more confused and it is increasingly sad that, faced with the challenges and efforts we are making to get the people of Ghana out of the challenges we face, some very determined people also want us to stay in good condition. Investigations into this development have begun, "he added.
Damoah, however, quickly added that the pipelines could be repaired, adding that the development would not affect the power supply "anyway".
He added that the Ministry of Energy was working hard to ensure that people seeking to destroy properties belonging to the Ministry of Energy are treated.
The incident occurs as a result of recent power outages in parts of Accra.
