SEJONG – The Green Climate Fund (GCF), the United Nations climate fund based in South Korea and aimed at helping poor countries tackle global warming, has approved $ 500 million in funding for new projects and programs, according to Seoul’s finance ministry on Sunday.
In a virtual meeting held from June 28 to July 2, the GCF Board of Directors discussed new funding and accreditation proposals.
Launched at the end of 2010, the GCF aims to channel money from industrialized countries to developing countries to help them deal with problems linked to climate change. (Yonhap)
