GCNet pays a dividend of 20 million GH ¢ to the government

Accra, July 25, GNA – The Ghanaian Community
Network Services Limited (GCNet) announced Wednesday a 20 ¢ dividend
million to the government for the 2018 financial results.

The amount represents 20% of the government
participation in GCNet, which is owned by the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Receive the check, the Minister of Finance,
Ken Ofori-Atta reiterated GCNet's important role in revenue
mobilization and facilitation of trade for development.

He said Ghana was lagging behind peers
from revenues to gross domestic product, which is currently at 12.6%
while most countries make about 19%.

In this direction, Mr. Ofori-Atta stated that GCNet
essential services to bridge the gap and expressed the hope that both
parties would be more engaged to advance the income frontier
generation.

Mr. Ofori-Atta acknowledged the contribution of GCNet
consistency in the payment of the dividend to the government and urged it to continue
help the government meet the revenue challenges
mobilization.

For his part, Mr. Emmanuel Darko, deputy deputy
CEO of GCNet, reiterated the company's commitment to being at the forefront of
the forefront of revenue mobilization and trade facilitation.

He said that the company had been consistent in
the government payment of the dividend through the GRA as well as the statutory tax
obligations.

Mr. Darko said that the development of trade and
facilitated, GCNet continued to support government revenues
mobilization effort through our deployed services.

He stated that the company had deployed its TRIPS
system of the 69 National Tax Revenue Division, which had greatly contributed to
achievement of revenue goals.

GCNet, he says, is always ready to roll out new
applications that would meet the challenges of improving revenue
mobilization.

GCNet is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
between the government and other private entities, including the Ecobank and GCB banks.
