Kotoko hopes to impact Confederation Cup this quarter
George Amoako congratulated the government for its financial support to the club as it prepares for the CAF Confederation Cup group campaign.
On Tuesday, the government announced that it would provide financial support to Ghanaian clubs participating in both the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), the government declared its decision to grant financial support to Ghanaian clubs participating in football competitions in Africa.
The government will provide $ 200,000 to clubs that will reach the CAF Champions League group stage, while $ 150,000 will go to clubs participating in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The directive stated that the Porcupine warriors, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, would receive a total of US $ 150,000 as government support to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Acclaimed by the government's gesture as he participated in the African football summit and was high on Ghana's flag, Amoako praised the initiative, saying it was at the right time.
"The government is doing really well and we thank them for it. This will greatly help us financially. Previously, it was nil, but we now have something to compensate for some of the costs we incur. Oliver Twist will always ask for more, so if they will increase it, the clubs will be happy, "said Amoako.
