The actor and filmmaker is back in the Scottish capital with his wife, a human rights lawyer, to attend the charity gala at McEwan Hall.
When asked how he felt about Edinburgh, he said, "It's great, thank you for the weather, it's nice outside."
The couple will be interviewed by the television channel Natasha Kaplinsky during the event.
The Gravity star appeared in the city after hundreds of people welcomed Clooney when he visited Social Bite homeless activists and the People's Postcode Lottery headquarters in Edinburgh in November 2015.
