The Ghana Education Service has postponed the reopening of first year high school students from Thursday March 18 to Sunday March 21.
In a press release signed by the Deputy Director-General, the Service said the action was to give students who have had issues with self-placement time to complete the process.
Additionally, others who did not complete their school’s admissions process were encouraged to use the extension to complete the process.
The Service added that the postponement will also help parents have enough time to prepare their children for school and give schools the extra time needed to prepare to welcome them.
“The management had decided that the reopening of schools for first year students should be postponed from Thursday March 18 to Sunday March 21, 2021.”
“The staggered period is meant to allow schools to structure the admissions process so that few students are crowded into school at any given time.”
In the meantime, academic work will begin on Monday March 22 in all schools.
GES also urged parents to ensure their children leave home with adequate nasal masks to protect themselves in the midst of Covid-19, while the school leadership has also been tasked with ensuring strict adherence to Covid-protocols. 19.
