It is often more interesting for manufacturers not to present one but more smartphones. It is therefore not surprising to see Huawei offer two models: a P30 and a P30 Pro. You will find below our grip of the P30.
Huawei P30 – Design and Finishing
With its 6.1-inch size, the Huawei P30 is much easier to use than the Pro model. We could almost say that Huawei used elements of its predecessor on the P30, but if so it should not be blamed because the result is a device of high quality.
At the back, the uninitiated eye will see no difference but if we take the P30 in one hand and the P30 Pro in the other we can see some of them that are at the camera . Be that as it may, we find on this P30 three cameras.
Huawei P30 – Screen
Like the P20 Pro,
Huawei uses on its P30 a screen
OLED with Full HD + definition
. That said, unlike the P30 Pro, we do not find rounded screen borders. The notch has lost in size since the speakers are placed in the same way as on the Galaxy S10: between the chbadis and the screen border. Colors and contrasts are successful.
The optical fingerprint reader placed under the screen is also in the game and, according to Huawei, should be better than that of the Mate 20 Pro.
Huawei P30 – Software Interface
While the P30 differs from the P30 Pro in many ways, if there is one thing that is found on both devices is the system. This is the
EMUI 9.1 interface based on Android 9 Pie
.
Huawei P30 – Performance
In terms of hardware, there is little difference between the P30 and the P30 Pro. We find the same
SoC Kirin 980, the same Mali G76 graphics chip, the same Dual NPU
. You only have one option for configuration: 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
Huawei P30 – Camera
Beyond the screen and the battery,
the other big difference between the P30 and the P30 Pro is in the camera
.
Cameras: Huawei P30 vs Huawei P30 Pro
Huawei P30 | Huawei P30 Pro | |
---|---|---|
Main sensor | 40 megapixels, SuperSpectrum sensor / aperture f1.6 / focal length 27 mm / optical stabilizer | |
Ultra-wide angle sensor | 16 MP / f / 2.2 / focal length 16 mm | 20 MP / f / .2.2 / focal length 16 mm |

Flight time | No | Yes |
It's not hard to see that Huawei has placed a 40 megapixel SuperSpectrum sensor in its P30. On the P20 and P20 Pro last year, Huawei had opted for another strategy: only the P20 Pro had been entitled to 40 MP sensor while the P20 had a 12-megapixel sensor for its RGB camera.
If the main sensor is not different, there must be differences elsewhere. On the P30, the ultra wide-angle camera captures "only" in 16 megapixels, and the clbadic lens without a prism allows a maximum zoom of 3x.
The ToF camera is for absent subscribers, which could play a role in depth effects (especially in portrait mode). We will of course check all this in our final test.
Huawei P30 – Autonomy
The P30 has a battery with a capacity of 3630 mAh which is charged thanks to a fast charging system at 22 Watts
. Huawei has managed to place a fast charging system in 15 watts.

First verdict
If you find that the P30 Pro is too big, too expensive and the zoom is too big, the Huawei P30 could be an interesting alternative with its price of 799 euros. Unlike the P range of last year, this year both models use the same main sensor, so the photos taken with it are the same. However, it is necessary to accept some compromises on the P30, for example in the fact that there is no ToF camera. If these restrictions do not cause you any problems, then the P30 may be the smartphone you need.
