On September 14, 2019, a golden toilet was stolen from Blenheim Palace in the UK, prompting an investigation into the incident.

However, two years later, no one has been charged in court for the daring theft, and the toilet has yet to be recovered.

The working toilets were part of an art exhibit when they disappeared.

The BBC reported that seven people had been arrested for theft, but no formal charges were filed.

Two years ago, a gang broke into the palace and removed the toilet in the daring robbery, causing extensive damage and flooding.

Shortly thereafter, a reward of 81,000 GHc was announced for anyone with leads on thieves.

A police officer who spoke to the publication about the theft said retrieving the toilet would be a daunting task.

According to the officer, the toilet was most likely melted down and sold.

“I wonder if it’s shaped like a toilet to be perfectly honest. If you have this large amount of gold, I think it seems likely that someone has already managed to get rid of it in some way. or some other, ”he said.

When the theft took place, YEN.com.gh reported that it was part of the artwork of Italian Maurizio Cattelan.

The toilet was made in honor of the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and was installed in the place which was his home.

Asset management confirmed the incident via a Twitter post, claiming the thieves broke in around 4 a.m.

“We can confirm ‘America’, the artwork by Maurizio Cattelan was stolen in the early hours of this morning. We are saddened by this extraordinary event, but also relieved that no one was injured,” the statement said. .

Management also announced the closure of Blenheim Palace to allow for further investigations.
