A special audit of the accounts of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), overseen by the Auditor General, revealed that a total of 2.339.272.79 GH ¢ had not yet been fully accounted for.
The audit was conducted on the accounts of the organization from 2012 to 2016 as a result of unrest on the part of members who asked to know the financial health of GHAMRO.
A summary of the report requested that the tender notes for the 2014 to 2016 management period be submitted to the Auditor General.
According to the report, an amount of GHG 2 113 803.93, consisting of bank transfers and several withdrawals, including payments to banks with little or no details for the period from 2012 to 2014.
The report further stated that there was a shortage of money collected and deposited on behalf of GHAMRO, for a total amount of 147,814.86 GH.
An amount of GHG 22,500 in respect of financial badistance and medical support allegedly granted to the members was also without supporting documents.
The report also alleged that the advance of GH ¢ 22,445.00 recorded as daily transport and fuel allowance was without the approval of the Commission.
The report requested a sessional allowance of GH ¢ 11809.00 and GH ¢ 4 910.00 for the board of directors and the other members of the committee, respectively. The amounts were paid in 2012.
He also stated that an amount of 9,150.00 GH ¢ had been withdrawn directly in the form of protocol payments without supporting documents and an additional 7,070 GH ¢ to persons whose identity and relations with the Organization were not known by means of petty cash vouchers.
At a press conference held Thursday by the Board of Directors and GHAMRO executives at the Copy Right Office headquarters, Rex Omar, Chairman of the Board, announced that his report had helped his team to recover a Toyota Sequoia vehicle. the withdrawal of GH ¢ 55,000.00 without the authorization of the Board.
