H.E Tove Degnbol, Ambbadador of Denmark to Ghana
Ghana and Denmark today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to mark the continuation of the strategic maritime cooperation that began in 2017.
The second phase is expected to improve electronic navigation in Ghana, support the implementation of international maritime regulations and train tug captains in state-of-the-art simulators in Denmark between 2019 and 2023.
The broad bilateral commitment between the two maritime administrations began in 2017 and aims to badist the Ghana Maritime Authority to implement and enforce the regulations adopted by the International Maritime Authority, to introduce the platform. electronic navigation system and to train Ghana's port pilots. (GPHA) to ensure an efficient commercial flow in the port of Tema.
Ghana became the first in Africa in 2017 and the fifth in the world to pilot an electronic navigation platform.
Danish Ambbadador to Ghana, H.E. Tove Degnbol, said this achievement was a major milestone in Ghana-Denmark maritime collaboration.
For his part, Thomas Kofi Alonsi, director of the Ghana Maritime Authority, said that one of the main advantages of maritime cooperation was the signing of a bilateral memorandum of understanding between Denmark and Ghana for mutual recognition of seafarers' certificates.
He added that Phase II of the strategic sectoral cooperation will continue to badist the Ghana Maritime Authority to implement the necessary corrective measures to comply with the standards of practice of the International Maritime Organization.
The Director General expressed his deep gratitude to the Danish Government for funding the project.
