In the wake of the national debates on the Ghana Beyond Aid initiative, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Greater Accra Regional Chair of the Association of Industries of Ghana (AGI) reiterated the position of many Ghanaian conferences and long speeches to the actual implementation.

According to Tsonam Akpeloo, although the Ghana Beyond Aid initiative is commendable and receives all the support it needs, the government can not achieve its goal by holding only lectures and reading long speeches.

He said, "The Ghanaian mantra beyond help is a big deal … However, if we do not take the time, it will remain a topic of conversation where people will meet in a room, discuss and return. at their home". It will take a more pragmatic, systemic and well-designed plan to achieve it. "

He stressed that to achieve the goals of the Ghana Beyond Aid initiative, the private sector had to play a major role, which should be facilitated by the government.

"… All these projects, at the center of it, should be the private sector, which will actually be the one that will create sustainable businesses, that will support the ordinary man and create jobs for all … if not, my fear is that we risk having long conversations about Ghana Beyond Aid without seeing it materialize in terms of work and concrete actions. "

Mr. Akpeloo spoke at the 7th National Conference on CSR and Partnerships held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra on Friday, July 12, 2019.

The Center for Corporate Social Responsibility in West Africa has partnered with Plan International to organize the 7th edition of the national conference on CSR and partnerships.

The conference focused on exploiting the local partnership between stakeholders, as part of projects and causes in CSR and sustainability.

It mobilized key players in the CSR Enclave, including speakers and academics, professional badociations, the private sector, regulators, civil society and the media.

Some companies also informed Ghanaians of their social responsibilities in rural Ghana.
