Ernest Owusu Bempah, head of communications at Ghana Gas Company Limited, noted that despite legacy debts from the energy sector, Ghana Gas will soon pay a dividend to the Ghana government.
"The government is doing something about it, it is a cyclical debt in the energy sector and the Ministry of Finance is taking care of it. Basically, this question does not arise because the VRA pays because we (Ghana Gas) run the gas trust of the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC), which involves technical details.
"In addition to the fact that Ghana Gas carries out other projects, such as the supply of nearly 60% of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) also; it is giving us money; and this year, I'm disclosing to you that we are the only company paying a dividend to the Ghanaian government of about $ 20 million … "
He revealed that under the administration of Dr. Ben Asante, many savings and prudent expenses had been incurred, which had led the company to acquire a state-of-the-art office and bring its number of jobs to more than 600.
