The Ministry of Communications, through the Ghana Data Protection Commission, will organize the first African Data Protection and Privacy Conference from 26 to 27 June 2019 in Accra.
In partnership with the network of African data protection authorities, the conference marks an important step in the roadmap for promoting the enactment of laws on data protection and privacy in Africa.
Countries in the African region are at different stages of enacting data protection and privacy laws and establishing supervisory authorities in response to the increased use of technology as digitalisation and digitalisation progress. to the exponential growth of activity in the global cyberspace.
The African Conference on Data Protection and Privacy will bring together authorities in Africa and the North to provide thought leadership, ideas, best practices and high-level strategic content.
The conference will focus on contemporary national and global issues such as the alignment between privacy and the right to information; subcontractors and the safeguarding of national databases; acceptable national identification and challenges specific to the region, among others.
