Ghana Needs Progressive Law to Support Private Higher Education – Prof. Adei

Accra, July 08, GNA – Professor Stephen
Adei, Chair of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC)
called for a progressive law that encourages and supports the private superior
education to contribute effectively to the development of human resources in
country.

He said the challenges facing the private sector
universities are great today, attracting
number of students, the right combination of teachers and resource mobilization
support quality higher education.

Professor Adei made the Nobel appeal
First cohort of young executives MBA (International Business School – NiBS) A clbad of
2019 graduation and delivery of the Master in Applied Research in Business
and postgraduate certificate in contemporary management at its maintenance
students in Accra.

It was on the theme; "Transform
Africa through education ".

He said that in the next few years, there would be
to be serious rationalization, consolidation and transformation into higher private
education in Ghana adding: "But I do not doubt that their role
will grow rather than diminish.

The president said that many colleges have been taken
in a vicious circle of having to charge low fees between 4 000 and 6 000 GH ¢,
while the actual cost per student is at least 20 000 GH ¢.

These private colleges can not increase their
fresh because public colleges with all the support of the government that they get,
charge a small fee, which does not reflect the total cost of the
education.

"The essential is that if you are in
the private sector, the quality of education must be irreproachable. People are
always willing to pay for quality ".

"That's where I think NiBS is a
pioneer. It has what it takes to be a global business school, "he said.

Adei noted that to acquire the cup
advanced knowledge and skills needed to provide business leadership in a growing number of
competitive world, we needed quality leadership, demonstrated by
the president of the school.

He said that it was important because
"Leadership is cause, everything else is effect".

He noted that Africa needed quality leaders
in all areas of his life to transform the continent.

"There is absolutely no reason for the nations
like Nigeria and Ghana to be poor but unfortunately the majority of its population lives
seriously deprived, "he added.

Professor Adei said that the main reason for this
the lack of innovative, enterprising and ethical leaders in the world
political, business, public and traditional services.

"So I'm happy that NiBS is on
its way of being this kind of institution in Ghana, and I wish you good luck, "he said.

He urged graduates to be ambbadadors of
NiBS presenting excellent performances wherever they found themselves.

He said that Africa was in desperate need of ethics,
innovative and enterprising leaders to transform the continent into the
the shortest possible time, which required good character, skill and care.

Mr. Henry Oroh, Executive Director and
Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, President and CEO, urged the government to invest
in quality education as this would stimulate transformation in Africa, in particular
Ghana.

He said that there must be a paradigm shift in
the color white with blue work and leaves room for creativity.

He urged the graduates to always dedicate
their work for future references.

Kwaku Atuahene Gima, President and
Executive Dean of NiBS, congratulated the cohorts and invited them to reflect
differently when everybody sees the same things with regards to the problems that this is the
basis of innovation.
