The Railway Company began a two-week free ride for pbadengers along the Accra-Tema railway line.
Hundreds of people, including Information Minister Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah, Ghana Railway Company Limited General Manager John Essel and Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah, joined the Minister of Information Railways, Joe Ghartey, aboard the Accra-Tema test shuttle.
Squatter activities along the tracks have prevented the Railway Company from having a previous test test scheduled for January 2019.
Shuttle service
The shuttle should offer free rides for the next two weeks before the start of its commercial operations at the price of 5 GHC per pbadenger.
The shuttle has a multi-unit diesel train (DMU) that can seat 360 people, allowing dozens of other people to hit the road for a trip of one and a half hours (1.5 hours) ).
It is powered by onboard diesel engines and does not require separate locomotives because the engines are incorporated in one or more cars.
The train will leave Community 1 Station at 6:00 am daily and will make stops at Tema Fishing Port, Tema Harbor Station, Asoprochana Station, Nungua Gate (mile 11), Addogonno (mile 9), at Batchona station, Achimota Station, Odaw Station (Circle) before arriving at Accra Central Station at 7:30.
