The report on happiness in the world 2019 ranked Ghana respectively to the 98th and 7th country in the world and to Africa.

This is an improvement over the 2018 ranking in which Ghana ranked 108th and 12th in the world and Africa respectively.

According to the report, published on Wednesday, March 19, 2019, Finland ranks first, while South Sudan comes last on the list of 156 ranked countries.

Finland has retained first place. Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, Sweden and Austria rank respectively in tenth place.

The United Kingdom and the United States ranked 15th and 19th, respectively, and 93rd for China.

In Africa, Ghana sits behind Mauritius, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria and Cameroon, respectively in first to sixth position. Ivory Coast, Benin and Congo Brazzaville round out the top 10 list of Africa.

Committed by the UN Network for Sustainable Development, the Global Happiness Report ranks countries according to their scores such as GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, social freedom, generosity and the absence of corruption.

According to this year's rankings, one could say that Ghanaians are happier now, even though there is much talk of the state of the Ghanaian economy under the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo.
