The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, announced that Ghana and the Czech Republic had signed a credit facility of 47 million euros for the supply of 50 steel bridges in some communities of the country in the framework of works of infrastructure.

According to him, the Minister of Roads and Highways representing the Government and the Ambbadador of the Czech Republic signed the agreement in Accra for the design, supply and installation of small and medium-sized bridges in steel.

S addressing the media at a series of press conferences, the Minister of Information, the Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that the project involved the design, supply and installation of steel elements for the construction of new bridges and replaced some existing bridges on rivers and pedestrian bridges, including l & # 39; 39; performing all substructure work and access work.

He indicated that, in accordance with the agreement, the Department of feeder roads will comprise 20 bridges, the Ghana Highway Authority 20 and the Department of Urban Roads 10.

The project should be completed within twenty-four (24) months from the date of commencement of the work.

"The main objectives of the project are to meet basic human needs by improving the accessibility of hospitals, schools and other social and cultural facilities, which are greatly hampered by the lack of bridges at watercourse crossing points. . It also aims to eliminate traffic bottlenecks at river crossings and to improve the flow of goods and people in areas of influence, "he said.

"It is expected that by the end of the project, access to schools, hospitals and markets will be ensured all year round, thus eliminating interruptions in the transportation of people, products of the farm and other objects during the rainy season.
