The government said Ghana remains safe despite recent reports of security threats.
According to the government, in a statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, national security officials held a meeting on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Jubilee House in Accra.
The meeting, he said, was aimed at reviewing recent travel briefs on Ghana and intelligence reports on the security situation in Ghana.
The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia have warned their citizens traveling to Ghana against threats to security in the country, including kidnapping, terrorism and "violent crimes".
But the government badured that Ghana remained safe and vigilant in terms of security.
"The meeting concluded that there was no exploitable intelligence or imminent threat to Ghana."
According to the statement, "Ghana's security and risk profiles remain largely unchanged despite recent events in the subregion".
He added that "the country's security apparatus continues to be reorganized and vigilant to deal with any major threat to security in the jurisdiction".
He noted that it was advisable for Ghanaians, foreign residents and visitors to continue to lead their normal lives without fear, but also to remain aware of security.
"Potential visitors are also advised that, like other Western jurisdictions, isolated crimes must not detract from the security and hospitality for which Ghana is so well known."
