President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said Ghana will take delivery of 17,600,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine by June 2021, with more to come later in the year.
During his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Accra on Tuesday, he said a total of 262,335 Ghanaians had received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine by 10:30 a.m. on March 9, 2021.
He said the government was working hard to meet its goal of vaccinating 20 million Ghanaians and called for support from all.

He said the government was working with the private sector to establish 14 medical waste treatment facilities across the country to ensure the safe and proper disposal of medical waste such as the vials, needles and syringes used in the hospital. coronavirus vaccination exercise.
President Akufo-Addo said that on site 14,600,000 personal protective equipment had been produced so far for health workers, students, teaching and non-teaching staff in higher and secondary education institutions.
He said the government will continue to invest in the health sector and recruit more professionals to improve the delivery of health care in the country.
He expressed gratitude to all frontline health workers for their dedication to duty and sense of patriotism, saying the pandemic has underscored the need to expand access to health care for all Ghanaians, regardless of who. or their location.
The president said that last year 33 large health projects were approved for implementation at a cost of 890 million euros.
“The main ones are the regional hospital of Koforidua, the general hospital of Tema, the nephrology and urology center of Korle-Bu, the redevelopment of the Effia Nkwanta hospital into a teaching hospital and the construction of ‘a new regional hospital in Agona Nkwanta in the western region. ,” he said.
He said that the deployment of the Electronic Medical Records (E-Health) system is currently underway, after its implementation in key health facilities such as Korle-Bu University Hospitals, Komfo-Anokye, Ho, Tamale and Cape Coast, and several district hospitals in the central region.
President Akufo-Addo said the regional hospitals in Upper East, Upper West and Bono will go live on the eHealth platform within the next five days.
