Ghana unveils the largest steel plant in West Africa

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has commissioned the largest manufacturing steel fabrication plant in West Africa.

The factory located in Kpone, in the Greater Accra region of Ghana, is part of the One District One Factory (1DF1), a flagship industrial initiative of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

The steel and iron manufacturing plant, worth $ 80 million, belongs to B5 Plus Limited, a steel manufacturing giant located in Africa. 39, West and Ghana.

B5 Plus started in 2002, then imported steel products from countries like Ivory Coast and others.

Today, after a long history of hard work and commitment, the company has become a net exporter to most West African countries.

Buk Plus believes in providing the best products and services in the market, said Mukesh Thakwani, chairman of the board of B5 Plus.

1D1F is one of the most ambitious projects of President Akufo-Addo's government, Mr. Thakwani.

Just two decades ago, B5 Plus was importing from neighboring countries, but it is now the largest in West Africa, he said, adding that B5 Plus believed in Ghana, B5 More believed in Made-In-Ghana.

According to him, the company has won several awards locally and internationally for the excellence of its service.

"Ghana is a star on the African continent," said Thakwani.

The company occupies 400 acres of land and has pre-fabrications.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten, congratulated the management and staff of the company.

He described the factory as an important investment and development in Ghana.

"There can be no better testimony of what we are trying to achieve with the 1D1F than what we see here today," he said.

He called for continued protection of foreign investment in Ghana.

The company is expected to create about 3,000 direct jobs and allow Ghana to save about $ 100 million a year in foreign exchange.

About 1,200 workers are already engaged daily on the site and the company seeks to create at least 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Mr Kyeremanten welcomed the potential of society to employ 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The first phase of the projects is based on 100 acres of land.

The Director General of Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC), Yofi Grant, said: "B5 is both a Ghanaian company and an Indian company."

While encouraging residents to support the business activities, he said that "foreign direct investment is a good thing, especially when it is badociated with indigenous development" .
