Turkey is committed to increasing its foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ghana from $ 400 million to $ 1 billion.
Turkey's new ambbadador to Ghana, Ozlem Ergun Ulueren, said on Tuesday in Accra when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
The discussions during the brief meeting focused on how to deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and Turkey.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah is mainly concerned about how Ghana could advance what he described as an outgoing trade relationship with Turkey.
Ambbadador Ergun Ulueren, who was in Ghana about two months ago, spoke about a wide range of projects undertaken by Turkish companies and institutions in the country since Ghana and Turkey forged bilateral relations in the country. the 1960s, three years after the independence of Ghana. .
She said that Turkish construction companies had invested about half a billion dollars in Ghana and that Turkish projects were under way in Ghana, particularly in the energy sector.
The ambbadador urged that the mutual relations between the two countries be maintained, explaining how, after the 1960s, Turkey had to close its embbady in Ghana in 1980 and have it reopened in 2009.
She also spoke of Turkey's unwavering commitment to support President Akufo-Addo's vision of a Ghana Beyond Aid.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah was pleased to note Turkey's intention to increase its FDI to $ 1 billion.
He told the ambbadador of other sectors of the economy that needed investments and what investors or Turkish companies might consider for their business.
Specifically, he mentioned the sectors of agriculture, tourism, industry and the capital market.
He told his guest at the meeting in his office that the capital market in Ghana was booming and that anyone in whom to invest was safe.
He especially appealed to the ambbadador of Ghana and Turkey to explore ways to open the Turkish market to Ghanaian products.
He expressed the deep conviction that outbound trade to Turkey will help the Ghanaian currency, as it will allow the country to earn foreign exchange.
