Roads Minister Kwasi Amoako-Attah has sought the cooperation of the 48th Armed Forces Regiment of Engineering in Ghana to build 5,000 steel bridges to facilitate economic activities at the national level.

The ministry is expected to soon reach an agreement with the Ministry of Defense to allow members of the regiment to support the rehabilitation of approximately 150 components of steel bridges that were destroyed.

Amoako-Attah said this during a ceremony held at the Burma camp in Accra, during a visit of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to listen to the concerns of employees military and civilians of Ghana Armed Forces GAF).

The Minister stated that GAF had worked well with the department in the past and that military personnel had demonstrated a high level of professionalism, efficiency, discipline and technical prowess in the construction of bridges. in steel.

He announced on Friday, February 22, 2019 that the government was expecting about 200 steel bridge components from the Czech Republic this year to repair dilapidated bridges.

For this reason, the ministry would like to restore this relationship and partnership for the development of the country's infrastructure.

At the same time, President Nana Akufo-Addo presented 140 vehicles to Ghana's armed forces, in keeping with the promise made in October 2018 to the army.

The vehicles included 50 Ankai buses, 40 Toyota Landcruiser Hardbody vehicles and 50 Toyota Hilux vans.

The President also indicated that 48 additional vehicles, representing the second tranche of operational personnel and vehicles for the armed forces, would be introduced soon.
