Baba Rahman Abdul Baba wants to have more play time to secure a spot in the Ghana team for the next CAN

Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman has joined Stade Reims, the English club of English club Chelsea, which Ghanasoccernet.com can reveal.

Rahman joins the Reims stadium on loan until the end of the season.

After pbading the physical and medical tests on Tuesday, Reims contracted the left-back until June 2019.

Baba chose to move to France as he wanted to have more playing time to secure a spot in the Ghana team for the next Africa Cup of Nations.

Reims is looking for a strong defender to replace Ghislain Konan, unavailable for the rest of the season due to injury, and Baba matches the description of the player they want.

The negotiation was long: Chelsea had to break the player's loan agreement with FC Schalke 04 and take a big share of his salary.

The 24-year-old left Augsburg to settle in Stamford Bridge for £ 14m in 2015.

He made 23 appearances in his first season at the club led by Jose Mourinho during a disappointing campaign for the team.

However, he fell out of favor under the new boss Antonio Conte the following season and was loaned to Schalke for the season.
