Ghanaian soldier died honored in Israel; Street named after him

– The State of Israel has named a street in honor of the late Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri, former commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

– The late Vib-Sanziri, who was also head of mission, died Friday, April 19, 2019 in the state of Israel.

– The street is on the Golan Heights and would now be known as "Vib-Sanziri Road"

Information available for YEN.com.gh shows that the State of Israel honored the late Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri.

The dead soldier was the former head of mission and commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

According to a statement issued by Colonel Eric Aggrey-Quarshie, director of public relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, a road on the Golan Heights has been renamed the "Vib-Sanziri Road".

According to a graphic.com.gh report, a quote in his honor reads as follows: The "Vib-Sanziri Road" was named in honor of Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri (1957-2019) of the Ghana Defense Force, who was Chief of Mission and Force Commander of the UNDOF 2017 -2019.

"He was a real peace fighter who played a key role in many peacekeeping operations around the world.

"The State of Israel congratulates Maj Gen F Vib-Sanziri on his commitment to ensuring the stability and security of Israelis and Syrians

"We will remember him as a true partner, a great leader and most of all a visionary."

Major-General Vib-Sanziri was killed on Friday, April 19, 2019 in the state of Israel.

He was buried on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the New Accra Military Cemetery, Ghana.
