KRC Genk defender Joseph Aidoo is thrilled to make his Ghana debut in a 3-1 win over Mauritania in Tuesday's international friendly.

After representing Ghana at the U20 level at the Youth Africa Championships and the FIFA World Cup in 2015, Aidoo was first called by a senior player before qualifying for the final of the FIFA World Cup ™. African Nations Cup 2019 against Kenya.

He was named to the bench when the Black Stars beat the Harambee Stars 1-0 on Saturday at the Accra stadium.

The center-back took a start against Mauritania and took advantage of every minute of the game as Kwesi Appiah, Caleb Ekuban and Thomas Partey's goals helped the Black Stars win a stellar victory in Accra.

"You do not need to know, I'm very excited to finally have my first game for the Black Stars and crowning a success makes it a bit special," he said.

"It's the dream of all players to represent the country and I feel very honored to have my first selection for the national team.

"It shows that hard work is paying off and that I will continue to do my best at club level to have more opportunities to represent my country."

While Ghana booked a place in the 2019 AFCON CAN scheduled to begin in June, the former star of Inter Allies FC aims to form the last tournament team in Egypt.
