Ghana Institute of Surveyors President Dr John Amaglo called on the government to pass a Board of Surveys bill to regulate surveying activities in the country.
According to him, the institution is keen to ensure professionalism in the practice of surveying and therefore called on stakeholders to fight for a resilient surveying practice in Ghana to ensure that land issues do not hamper Development.
“We want to welcome the government, religious organizations, banks, businesses, farmers, fishermen and everyone else to the survey party. We have eaten the crumbs that have fallen from the stable of the entire nation, now is the time to have a full party to ensure that land issues do not hamper development, ”he said.
Speaking in an interview with Judith Tandoh of Joy News, Mr Amaglo explained that building resilient surveys is not only an asset for surveyors, but for the country as a whole.
“Just like the case where we have the Architects Registration Council and the Engineering Council, we as surveyors need a law to regulate the practice of surveying in Ghana.
“Due to the absence of the law, you see foreigners invading the country and practicing surveying without resorting to any law because no law can prevent them from practicing,” he said.
