Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, Member of Parliament for Sekondi
Sekondi MP Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer said the Ghanaians are keeping the New Patriotic Party at a higher level than the National Democratic Congress.
According to him, every time the NPP is in power, despite all they can do best, Ghanaians are always waiting for more than their colleagues on the other side of the political divide.
"I have come to see that Ghanaians are expecting more from the NPP than any other political party in our country. Regarding Ghanaians' expectations of what governments are doing, they expect more from us than from the NDC. They are comparing us with a higher criterion, "he said Saturday in the Citi TV / Citi TV's information badysis program, The Big Issue.
"Even though we work hard to solve the problems we inherited and to fulfill our mandate, people do not seem satisfied. And believe me, if it was the NDC, they would think they created a paradise, "he added.
But Franklin Cudjoe, chair of the think tank on policy, IMANI Africa, who also participated in The Big Issue, responded to this claim by saying it's because the NPP is making too many promises.
He said that for this reason, expectations are high every time the NPP is in power.
"That's because the nuclear plant promises more. I do not want to say that they talk too much. They sell a lot of their ideas and that's sometimes what leads many people to ask for more, "he added.

Franklin Cudjoe and MP Sekondi made the remarks at the presentation of President Nana Akufo-Addo's speech on the state of the nation.
President Akufo-Addo delivered a speech in Parliament Thursday in which he reported on his management over the last year in all sectors of the economy.
He also took the opportunity to announce some of the policies that the government plans to implement, including a new curriculum for elementary and preschool.
The president's speech, however, was silent on the fall of the Ghana cedi and the three girls kidnapped in the western region, which some badysts have criticized.
