Carrying signs and banners, some of which read “Let’s Fix It Together”, “Let Us Own Our Attitude”, “Thank You For The Free SHS”, “NABCO Is A Game Changer”, among others, the band went down in the street to greet the Akufo-Addo / Bawumia government.
Protesters praised the president and his administration and urged him to do more because, in their view, the development of a country is a process that takes time.
They also congratulated the President on the successes recorded with regard to his industrialization policy, the “Ghana cares Obatampa” program, among others during the Covid 19 pandemic, and at a time when the world economy is under pressure. of the pandemic.
Presenting a petition to Ghana’s High Commissioner, the group’s leader, Amanda Baffour-Awuah, revealed that Ghanaians in the diaspora truly appreciate the progress made under President Nana Akufo-Addo.
She believes that with the necessary support and constructive criticism, policies such as Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, 1 Village 1 Dam, 1 District 1, Factory, among others, would go a long way in facilitating Ghana’s development.
Ms. Baffour-Awuah also revealed that things happening in Ghana have a direct effect on members of the diaspora. To which she said, “The remittances that we used to send home have now been diverted to other investments, the
utility tariffs, among other things, all affect the financial situation here.
The current administration, they believe, has been so successful in reducing the burden on Ghanaians in the UK and the Diaspora as a whole.
Ms. Freda Bediako-Puni, Head of Commonwealth and Diaspora Affairs who received the petition on behalf of the High Commissioner, thanked the protesters and assured them to send the petition through the High Commissioner to the President.
He also urged them to live their best lives and stay out of trouble.
The President is currently in the UK to participate in the World Education Summit and will address the Africa Summit on Investment Risk and Compliance.
