On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, the Vice President, Mr. Mahanudu Bawumia, presented a conference at which he explained the reason for the recent depreciation of the cedi.
Part of his presentation was as follows:
"Ladies and gentlemen, you will remember that I said in 2014 that if the fundamentals were weak, the exchange rate would expose you.

It was true at the time and will always be. It's 100% correct. But it makes sense to jump from there to the conclusion that if there is a depreciation of your exchange rate, the fundamentals must be weak.
It defies logic. The depreciation of the exchange rate could be due to other external factors. "
However, it did not please many Ghanaians who used social media to express their opinions:
Dagoro wrote that Bawumia's head shone in the same way that his lies shone
Koranteng warned Ghanaians to monitor the sun's position before responding to Bawumia's greetings
Noagbesenu wondered where the congregation of Bawmunia would go if he was a pastor
Dziwornu concluded that Bawumia was confused
The general was convinced that there are things that only Bawumia can do
Agbemavah called on Bawumia to stop driving Ghanaians to hell
