Bernard Allotey Jacobs called on members and delegates of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as standard bearer.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen are two names who have stood as candidates for the post of party flag bearer.
However, the NPP leadership has warned members and supporters to suspend their campaigns until the party opens the nomination, citing reasons why this would distract from the good works of Republican President Nana. Akufo-Addo.
Despite this, the former NDC chairman for the central region, Allotey Jacobs, believes Dr Bawumia will be Ghana’s best president after President Nana Addo’s term ends.
He also argued that Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh would be the NPP’s 2024 vice-presidential candidate.
“I am not a member of the NPP but, as an old fox in the political arena, I can see Ghana’s prosperity in the blood of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Matthew Opoku Prempeh. So this should be your plan for 2024, he told Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ show.
