The new RACE (Revenue Assurance, Compliance and Enforcement) program is expected to allow the country to increase its revenue mobilization ratio to 20% of gross domestic product (GDP), said Information Minister Kojo Oppong.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia launched the RACE program in Accra on Wednesday 25 August.

In a post-launch tweet, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said: “After completing a review of income performance trends and related support systems, the government today launched the Income Assurance Program, Compliance and Enforcement (RACE) to help ensure the nation is able to increase its revenue mobilization ratio to 20% of our GDP.

“RACE will help us greatly to improve domestic resource mobilization in order to improve our capacity to invest in health infrastructure and other key sectors of the economy”

“The government is playing its role to diversify our sources of revenue. It is now up to us as citizens to respond to this by being in tax compliance. “
