Ghc100 for security recruiting forms is even less – Bright Oduro

Ghana’s security agencies have been defended by one of their own for selling recruitment forms that critics deem too expensive.

Former Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Commissioner of Ghana Police Services (COP) Bright Oduro rtd said the 100Ghc charged for forms was even “low”.

He said the police department he was a part of would have to send men across the country for enlistment, which comes at an additional cost, although he cannot say whether those costs are being met by the government. .

Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency parliamentary candidate John Dumelo criticized the security services for what he called an unfair cost for the forms. His criticism seems to have gained momentum because several young people have questioned the reason for the Ghc100 which, according to them, is too high.

Mr Dumelo used his social media to show how many young people have asked him to support Ghc100 to buy the recruitment forms from one of the security services.

“This is what I experience on a daily basis. Why are Security Services Recruitment Forms sold for Ghc100? Ghc100 for the recruitment form is not just for young people, ”he wrote on his Facebook wall.

However, speaking on Class FM on Thursday, Mr. Bright Oduro said that “the Ghc100 is on the eve, I think, on the low side.

“These large numbers who applied for the police cannot all be dealt with in Accra here, so I’m sure that wherever you are, the region you applied from, you will have to attend the selection of the corps and the Agents are going out there to do the body selection and screen them and check them and I’m sure that’s part of that load that they’re going to use, ”he noted.

COP Oduro (rtd) said he could not say if there was no government grant to meet it, but was sure that part of the accumulated funds would be used to cover some expenses during exercise.

“I don’t know if they [police] don’t get any grants or don’t get money to run some of these things because all of these things should come from central government and I don’t know if they haven’t received any money, so if they haven’t received the money for this kind of recruiting process, so of course they have to fund, they have to find ways to do it themselves and so some of that money I’m sure will be used to cover agents or police teams who tour the country to do screening, or vetting or recruiting… ”
