Parliament approved an amount of 2.5 billion GH ¢ for the activities of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) this year.

This includes National Health Insurance (NHIL) levies, SSNIT contributions, bonuses, processing fees and mid-year government support of GH ¢ 700 million.

Of this amount, 12 million GH ¢ were earmarked for the construction of six new regional offices in the six new regions created to help improve operations in these regions.

Aside from this, an amount of GH ¢ 25 million has been set aside for the creation of 20 new district offices to improve access to NHIA services.

Parliament approved the weekend.

Last year, an amount of 2.3 billion GH ¢ had been approved for NHIA, but the Ministry of Finance has only allocated 1.4 billion GHAC to the Authority. to bring the total amount to 1.6 billion GH ¢.

According to a committee report, the payments for 2018 would amount to 1.58 billion GH, for a total of 1 billion GH.

According to the report, of the remaining 358.8 million GH ¢ were paid to the Ministry of Health, of which 163.6 million were used to pay the compensation of trainees in nursing.
