GIPC Wins Award for Best Investment Promotion Agency for 4th Time

The Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) was again ranked as the best investment promotion agency in 2018 in West and Central Africa.

Both awards were presented at the 2019 Investment Awards Gala Dinner of the Annual Meeting of Investment (AIM), which was held on April 8, 2019 in Fort. Island, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.

The AIM Investment Awards are organized under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

It is intended to recognize Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) for their outstanding work in successfully attracting significant and beneficial foreign direct investment projects that contribute to their country's economic growth and development.

The proposals were submitted on a number of criteria, including the investment project, the size of the investment, the effects of the trade balance, knowledge transfer, technology transfer and innovative processes, sustainability and local links.

Agencies in nine (9) geographic areas are then selected for attribution. They include Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, West and Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa, Asia Central, Southeast Asia and Oceania, Eastern Europe, Turkey, CIS and Europe.

The GIPC won the West and Central Africa Region Award by demonstrating its support and facilitation for the Zonda Sinotruk Assembly Plant Limited project registered by the Center in 2018 and endowed with the following: an investment of $ 15 million.

Capital Finance International (CFI.co), a print journal and online resources on business, economics and finance, also declared the 2019 Center as the best investment promotion agency in Africa .

Center CEO Yofi Grant, who received the award on behalf of the center, said the award was proof that Ghana's history was heard and read.

He was optimistic that new technologies and industry 4.0 will provide Africa with a unique opportunity to do better than before.

The annual meeting on Investment (AIM) 2019 is an initiative of the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates.
