Giroud declares that Koscielny is "very hurt" for a bad Arsenal image

Laurent Koscielny is "very hurt" by the way the media described him in his clash with Arsenal, according to Olivier Giroud.

The 33-year-old pilot had to fly to the United States with the rest of the team last Thursday, but the club announced that the defender would not travel.

It is included Koscielny, whose contract is in effect until next year, made it clear to the club that he wanted to be released this summer in order to sign for another club.

But Arsenal has stood firm and refused to grant the former France International a free transfer.

GiroudHowever, he insists that Koscielny is "very hurt" by what has happened and by the "bad image" of the media.

"Lolo is a good friend of mine," Giroud said in an exclusive interview with BBC. "I've known him for 10, 11 years now. We played together in second division [in France, at Tours].

"He has been playing for Arsenal for nine years. he's been the skipper for so many years – very respectful, very professional, always the best example for young players.

"The club has given him the opportunity to play Arsenal and it's a great opportunity for him to show his quality in the Premier League. I think he's always been grateful for that and respectful to the club. I do not understand how we got to this situation.

"I am very sad for him because he is a great person and the media want to give him a bad image.

"I'm not at the club, I do not know what really happened – but one thing is certain: Lolo is very hurt by what's going on and he's an emotional person."
